The Rains Came
She had been waiting for years to
feel the rain falling on her parched face
Last night the rains finally began
But...
Would this be the rain to
Break that horrible drought
Listening to the blessed
Rain falling...
She slept that deep relaxing
sleep of babies.
Snuggling down in her bed...
sheltered...
revived...
refreshed
As daylight came
Her comfort begin to
Rise as did her resting place
She turned, stretched,
Rolled over and was
Suddenly out of her
Bed
No longer lazy and dormant
Today was the day to
Break FREE
Letting out all of her
Anger and frustration that
Built over the years
She raged and
Made her Presence known
Down River...they
Would have the floods
From her rage
Here ... only a gentle
Lapping at the bank edges...
Sheltering her people...
Protecting her land
as the
Might Colorado roared South
to flood distant lands.
At Last...
the Drought was Breaking
