The Other Side
They were having the time
of their lives
Two young men about to take on the World
Senior year...
They had the World
By the Tail
A warm spring afternoon
One last trip to the land fill
AND...
Prom 1990...
All gone
Listening to their favorite songs
on the radio
Volume to the MAX
Excited about
Graduation...
Girls...
Getting on with Life
An unguarded crossing
They didn't hear the train
OR...
It didn't sound the required warning
We will never know
Across the tracks...
They entered a world
Oh so different
Than the one they were planning

These two young men were former students of mine when I taught in a small West Texas town. They were best friends and their families decided to have a joint funeral. Garth Brooks - Friends in Low Places was played graveside because it was their favorite song at the time. Not a dry eye the entire time. The good do die young.
Always I wish you peace, joy and happiness, but most of all I wish you Love. Hold those you love close, and let them know every day what they mean to you and they are loved.
As Ever, Annie
