For nearly a week, the lesson for my daily Writing Practice has been Writers on Reading. Everyone has different ideas about what reading is and how reading is or is not good to improve writing. The bottom line to me at least, is that the written word is interpreted different by every individual reader. It may have a different interpretation by the same reader when read at different times in their lives. To me, the beauty of the written word whether is be a novel, short story, poem, or grocery list is that everyone who reads it brings their own meaning and that makes it special.
Below are two poems that were written the past couple of days following specific writing prompts. Now, people who know me will try to read something very personal into them. People who do not know me, will be less likely to do that. They will take the words for what they are and construct meaning that is personal to them and not care so much about what I was thinking (or not thinking) when I put the words on paper.
Remember, when you read something, Sometimes They are Just Words!

Unfaithfully Yours
You
Promised Me
Your
Love
Yet
You Could Never
Be
Faithful
You
ALWAYS
Had Someone
on the
Side
AND
Made Sure
I
Always Knew
Made Sure
So You
Could
Hurt Me
As
Much
As
You could
TAXI
Feeling just
Like Carrie
in
Sex and the City
I
Lean back
Relax
And enjoy
The
Ride
