Bells
Growing up in
a small rural town
life is ruled by
times of the day
At 12 Noon
The fire whistle
sounds announcing
the middle of the day
Time for lunch
an hour break
then back to work
But…
Five in the afternoon
was the time of the bells
The Carillon…
from the Methodist Church
playing everyone home
at the end of the day
An easing into
the night…
A time to settle in
at hearth and home
to reconnect…
unite…
with family
