Today’s Writing Practice Topic was this: Eating at a diner. Now, I will be telling my age, but with the many reruns of sit coms, maybe I am safe. When I hear the word diner, immediately the comedy Alice and Mel’s Diner comes to mind and with Mel’s there was always Flo. The following poem was something whimsical and fun…one of those ‘I had to do it’ pieces of writing.
Polly Holliday as Flo
The One and Only Flo
Kiss My Grits!
Silver Bullet
Gleaming
In the Noon Day
Sun
Doors open
Arms waiting
Good smells
Making me
Hungry
Before I even
Walk inside
Comfort food
Home cooking
Food of my
Childhood
Patty Melts…
Hand formed
Burgers…
Mile High
Fries…
AND
Onion Rings
To Die For
Where is Flo?
Well…
Kiss My Grits!

Always I wish you peace, joy and happiness, but most of all I wish you LOVE.
