Morning Awakening
All around me
the stirrings of
a new day
Neighborhood dogs
barking at unseen
demons in the dark
My cat jumping
on my belly
with that all too
familiar "feed me now"
Chirup
The South bound
train going North…
Sounding a warning
at every crossing
Coffee gurgling as
it drips through the pot
on the way to becoming
my early morning
Elixer
Stretching the kinks
from my body…
I begin my day
