"You have a visitor," Mac announced.
"Oh, anyone I know?" was my question.
"I believe you do." "Do you want me to show him in?" Mac said turning to the hall.
Nodding, I walked to the south window o f the conservatory where I had my morning coffee each day. The view was spectacular regardless of the season. My favorite room...warm, comforting yet at the same time like being outside in the forest. My retreat from the world...that special place to begin the day, finalize plans, and get right with the world before the rat race began.
"Hello, Beth," I heard. My heart leapt to my throat...that voice. I would know that voice anywhere and he just could not possibly be standing behind me in my sanctuary.
Without turning, our eyes met in the glass, his reflection behind me. Strong hands turned me gently into his warm embrace. We were both trembling, hearts beating wildly when he kissed my forehead.
"Baby, it's been way too long," he said with a catch in his voice. "I thought I lost you."
I snuggled deeper against him, tucking my head under his chin and said, "I'm not lost, but I felt thrown away."
"The choice was always yours, darlin'," I reminded him. "The choice was always yours."
