Writing Outside the Lines - Prompt 20

Here is my response to Prompt 20 - Writing Outside the lines.

Shiny Things

As the old adage
says ...

All that glitters 
is not gold...
Or 
Diamonds...
And
​Other multitudes
of shiny things...

All too often we look
for something more
something better
something different
to complete us...
our lives...

Or ...
So we think 

When what we really
want is right in front
of us all along

I know I need to
evaluate...
re-evaluate...
refocus...
many aspects of
my life for there
are too many
'shiny' things that 
tempt me...
cause me
to not think rationally...
to try to be
something ...
someone ...
I am not

Life is too short to
be distracted by
the glitz...
the glitter...
the sparkles...
the shiny things...

Don't be short 
sighted 
or 
Head-blind by
these things 
and
not treasure
the Diamond
you refuse to see
that was right 
there for you 
​all along ...
