Grandpa's Mystery
During the Great Depression
my Grandpa disappeared
Leaving my Grandmother
AND
a house full of children
Alone
To fend for themselves...
To keep the farm alive...
The sawmill running...
No one knew
Where he was
He never came home
Not even when the
youngest daughter died
during her eleventh year
Family secrets...
Stories never told...
A mystery to this day
Sacrifices made in his absence
Changed lives...
My father's life...
The life of his older brothers
After ten years or so
he finally returned
Home again...
No questions asked..
OR
Explanations given
Deep hurt
BUT
Acceptance with his return
He went to his
Grave keeping his
Mystery
